National Volunteer Week: The power of people showing up
01 June 2026 10:00
Volunteers’ Week gives us an opportunity to pause and properly recognise the people who make so much of our work at Sportily possible.
Across our communities, volunteers show up in countless ways. From young leaders growing in confidence and responsibility, to coaches investing week after week into the lives of children and young people. From those serving meals and creating belonging at our summer residentials, to members of local churches opening their doors, offering support and helping build genuine connection.
Just as importantly, many of the people who volunteer with us are members of the very communities we serve, and that really matters to us.
Building Stronger Communities Together
We believe stronger communities are built alongside people, not simply for them.
When local people shape, lead and represent the work, it becomes more authentic, more sustainable and far more impactful.
Every conversation, session, meal served, lift offered, encouragement given and hour volunteered helps create spaces where people feel seen, supported and connected.
To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, encouragement and care so generously: thank you. Your contribution reaches further than you probably realise. So much of what happens at Sportily simply wouldn’t happen without you.
Want to Get Involved?
If you’d like to make a difference in your local community, we’d love to hear from you. There are lots of ways to volunteer with us, whether that’s supporting sessions, helping at events and residentials, encouraging young people or simply being part of creating welcoming community spaces.
You can find out more about volunteering opportunities here.
And if volunteering isn’t possible for you right now but you’d still like to support the work we do, donations help us continue creating opportunities, building connections and reaching communities across Gloucestershire and beyond.
